Reporting Japan and Fukushima
I wonder how much, in @harikunzru’s words, ‘The image of impenetrable Japan (a dubious cliché not unrelated to that old favourite, the inscrutable oriental)’ is at play in the media’s reporting of Japanese handling of the nuclear disaster. Or is it a universal distrust of all officials?
